to establish a close relationship with the Church and the West and to receive
their support. As a matter of fact, the following statements by Gülen on his let-
ter to the Pope himself on 9 February 1998: “Pope VI. We are here to be part
of the mission of the Papal Council (PCID) for interfaith dialogue initiated and
underway by the Pauls. We desire to see the accrual of this mission. We came
to you with the utmost helplessness, even a little daring, to offer you our most
modest help in performing this very valuable service” (Din İşleri Yüksek Kurulu
Başkanlığı, 2017, s. 76-77). Throughout the letter, the leader of FETO had been
extremely willing to blame the Muslims for the misunderstanding of Islam and
to be a part of the papacy mission. Moreover, he constantly criticizes Muslims
and praises the West. It is the struggle to produce an “Islam” that the western
can enjoy.
In order to give legitimacy to the dialogue process, the 64th verse of Al-i-
Imran was exploited, consciously, only the first part of the word-i tawhah was
brought forward, in this context “to believe in Prophet Muhammad “ partly igno-
red. After years of dialogue work, in an interview published by Gulen on 20 Au-
gust 2016 The following expressions about the Crusades are a clear indication
of where this process has led to Gülen: “It is not too dangerous for the Crusader
to occupy your country. Because there are red lines between you and them.
Once they will not harm your wife or daughters. They will not go to your Mabe-
din. The Crusaders did not hurt.” (Din İşleri Yüksek Kurulu Başkanlığı, 2017, s.
77). He denies religious persecution as it is seen, and falsifies religious theology
in the name of being charming to the West.
While the FETO leader speaks about Muslims his behaviour is very prag-
matic and self-interested and he became extremely irritable. He has shown an
extremely docile, understanding attitude when speaking of other religions. Ins-
tead of defending the rights and dignity of the religion of Islam and Muslims, he
constantly criticized and kept them under suspicion. The Vatican has decided,
explained and put into practice the religionary dialogue mission is the theo-
logical conversion and corruption of the belief of Islam in the name of seeking
common values (Din İşleri Yüksek Kurulu Başkanlığı, 2016, s. 31), (TBMM, 2017,
s. 124).
The concept of moderate Islam, is non-rigid, flexible in political and theo-
logical field and reconciliation and dialogue are used to define an open religion
mentality. With an even clearer account, as opposed to the methods of terror
and jihad, that these methods harm Islam and Muslims, showing the image
of Islam badly in the world, with a moderate language of Islam, he said Islam
should be introduced with culture and art products (TBMM, 2017, s. 129). Gra-

ham E. Fuller, an American strategist and thinker who was considered to be a
finger of the treacherous coup attempt on July 15, and who had many studies
on the Islam-Middle East, also used the phrase ‘Islamless World’ like the con-
cept of ‘Moderate Islam’ for the first time. Fuller said, without Islam, the Middle
East would not be very different today, he argues that the East-West competi-
tion starts before Islam and that the main thing is the geopolitics of the region
for any competition. According to him, religion has always attracted religion
and power has always attracted religion. Religion is second rank in terms of
conflict. Geopolitical concept comes before religion. Power and power struggle
is always more to the fore (Fuller, 2010, s. 2,4,5,11,23) he said that he did not
have any problems with the religion of Islam as actually thought. Among the
persons who are the reference for allowing the residents of the Feto to obtain a
residence permit from the USA. Claiming that they are Fuller and George Fides,
a former CIA official. Fuler’s thanks to the leader of the Feto in his book entitled
“The Future of Political Islam” and in the book “The New Republic of Turkey” he
praised the leader of FETO and his organization in Turkey (TBMM, 2017, s. 129),
these concepts show that the purpose of use is not innocent. Transforming
Islam into its own interests, the politics of adapting communities to their own
minds is being carried out. by playing with concepts. The contributions made
by Islamic civilization to that geography, cultures and the world are becoming
insignificant. This is a very dangerous situation.
Following the liquidation of the Warsaw Pact, NATO had not enemy left so
NATO chose Islam and Muslims as its new enemy, in fact, the hot conflict zones
around the world as an application of this new policy is seen that almost all the
Muslim lands. Dialogue between religions instead of institutionalizing a collecti-
ve response over sacred values against living slaughter and oppression, to bre-
ak the resistance resulting from Islam and tried to ‘moderate’ his Muslim identity
against open persecution. As we have already mentioned, the concept of jihad
is identified with terrorism so Islamic hate is aroused in the minds of people.
Because people see Islam as “radical Islam”. The Feto has been in the desire to
be a part of this project. He gives an image “Moderate Islam, Protestant Islam,
inter-religious dialogue, tolerance, reconciling Muslim, etc.” all over the World
(Din İşleri Yüksek Kurulu Başkanlığı, 2016, s. 29), (TBMM, 2017, s. 129).
With the coup attempt of July 15, it has also been revealed how Islamic
concepts have been used in a distorted way by being detached from historical
meanings. For example, the meaning of “himmet (charity or donation)” means
“voluntary, unrequited financial aid or donation”. However, the society was al-
most robbed by the organization at the Himmet meetings. This robbery, which
584
w w w . k a r t e p e z i r v e s i . c o m
occurred with the military coup attempt of July 15, has severely damaged the
concept of himmet (Din İşleri Yüksek Kurulu Başkanlığı, 2017, s. 66) (TBMM,
2017, s. 628). Nowadays, when it comes to the issue of himmet, the FETO
terrorist organization comes to mind. Because these organizations exploited
people’s religious feelings using concepts. He has used his power for their own
interests and the interests of global cooperation. It is also the part of Fethullah
Gulen, who was transferred to Pennsylvania as a share of Fethullah Gülen under
the name of “sacred teacher” of a certain percentage of the money collected
as himmet. This share starts at ten percent and there is no upper limit. A certain
amount of money spent on the central base in the United States, the rest of the
money is considered to have turned into the personal wealth of the imams of
the leader of the Feto terror organization (TBMM, 2017, s. 630).
The concept of “Service Movement” is the most common form of expression
this terrorist organizations. It is used briefly as “service” within the organizati-
on. Sometimes “community” is preferred. Because service, community etc. the
expressions are sympathetic and carefully chosen because they are ambigu-
ous at the same time. Service is the ultimate sacred goal of association, spirit,
(supposedly) that is spoken at every opportunity. According to the organization,
the service; supposedly “for the eternal happiness of men and for the ultimate
salvation, all kinds of activities carried out in consideration of God’s providence
and the natural formation that carries out these activities “. The term “service”
has been used for almost a single structure in recent years, namely for the FETO
organization (TBMM, 2017, s. 628). “The future of the service is the future of the
ummah, therefore the haram is helical for the future of service”(TBMM, 2017, s.
132).
“Consultation”, which refers to consultation as a word, refers to meetings at
a higher level of chat meetings in the organization. A top chat board, more pri-
vate and responsible for their participants. Discussions on the person providing
the desired yield may be eligible to participate in the consultations. This position
is referred to as an important position, since “consultative counselor” is now
able to take decisions on behalf of the organization as well as to take account of
when it becomes available, as it is with personal responsibilities. Organizational
structure of the cell units, which are called “light houses”. In addition, “sha-
kird”, which means “apprentice” or “student”, refers to the subordinate persons
usually raised by ‘older brother’ or ‘older sisters’ within the organization. The
use for ladies is in the form of “sharkirde”. Again, the Nurculuk movement (and
even the general Islamic-conservative jargon) is adapted to the organizations.
The organization consists of potential older sister and older brother. When they
585
w w w . k a r t e p e z i r v e s i . c o m
need it, even the highest level of organization’s associations, imams and even
Fethullah Gulen express themselves as “Shakird”, which is a so-called message
of modesty and dedication (TBMM, 2017, s. 632-633).
Often referred to as the “chat”, are organization meetings, usually held by
whispered journalists for the purposes of the organization, in accordance with
the strategies and instructions that Fethullah Gülen’s books read and / or ser-
mons are followed. Although the conversation person is older brother (or the
older sister who is chatting with the believer), many of the people who come
from the foundations seem to answer religious questions, but conversations
are not dialogue but monologue. And usually the primary concern of the per-
son giving the conversation is the benefit of the organization. According to the
organizations who have declared war on God is against the organization. They
are described as the centre of evil and shame by organization. Sometimes it is
also used as “gang up on”. Permanent focus of evil “communists or atheists” in
general, who these focuses are can easily change according to time and situati-
on in accordance with the benefits and needs of the organization. It is believed
that in the organization, where or who will be the focus of evil, “Fetullah Gülen is
reached because of consultations with our Prophet (TBMM, 2017, s. 630-632).
“Hocaefendi” is the name used by Fethullah Gülen in the organization. The
name is not mentioned directly while the organization is talking about him. This
is considered a great disrespect. Even “Fethullah Hodja” cannot be called. For
the organization, his name is “Hodja master” or sometimes “blessed person
in America” depends on the situation. It is also expressed as “our greatness”
or “our opinion leader”. The organization uses the concept of imam differently
from Turkish people. This person, who is responsible for all kinds of activities, is
the sine qua non of the organizational system and one of the most respected.
The pyramid has a hierarchical structure decreasing in number upward. Home
imam, district imam, provincial imam, country imam, continental imam etc. and
lastly the universe of the universe is Fethullah Gülen. He is the absolute and er-
ror-free person, he has placed himself in a higher position than the prophet with
this heretical belief (TBMM, 2017, s. 628-629).
In short, the concepts unfortunately evoke the terrorist organization of the
FETO. This negative perception has worn out these concepts which are impor-
tant in our culture. Even this systematic negative perceptual transformation on
concepts is a tremendous betrayal alone.

5. RESULTS
As a result, we can say that we live in a world where the strong is right. The
United States can cause thousands of deaths and pass the situation by saying
that we have made mistakes. The more desperate the world is the absence of
an authority to sanction it. In a world where there is no responsibility for stren-
gth, “right” cannot be mentioned. The military coup represents the illegal met-
hods and disproportionate power used to bring countries to a certain target. It
is necessary to see that military coups disturbing the peace of the community.
should not be a party to this lawlessness by saying my or your military coup. It is
necessary not to be beside strength but to be beside the truth and to internalize
it. It is experientially fixed that there is no ‘liberty’ on the way out to overthrow
the legitimate government. In addition, military coups undermine the trust of the
state’s institutions, justice and the law. The way to rebuild this confidence is by
punishing the military coup. Because the military coup is unpunished, it gives
ground and courage for the next military coup. That is why all military coups
must be countered. As Turkish society reach this awareness and if internalize it,
it is unlikely to be encouraged again.
Military coup maybe perhaps the biggest loss to the memory of society,
transformation of meanings of concepts from history or our personality by ac-
celerating this process. The Turkish-Islamic civilization has lost its position that
shaped the world centuries ago, and its shaped by west. In this situation today,
“advanced, progressive” refers to everything that belongs to those times as
“backward, reactionary” without an illusion and psychological direction. The
memory that have been created throughout history goes wiped. The “old” has
been reduced to a position where it must be abandoned, frightened, reactio-
nary. The concepts of religion and culture have been changed and transformed
into Western-based concepts. Therefore, materialistic, capitalist concepts and
concepts have passed the foreground. This situation has turned society into a
consuming society. Consumption surplus increased dependence on Western
Civilization. Because all the products of Western civilization are designed to
increase consumption. However, our concepts have historical and cultural dep-
ths. It reflects our values. This memory is destroyed by changing the concepts
and transforming them. So, the disappearance should not be considered as just
simple concepts. Therefore, we urgently need to repair our language in a radical
way, restructuring, our old concepts need to be brought back to life.
The tout of sharia is being destroyed in the last period of ottoman, the tout of
secularism is being destroyed during the Republican period, they are the produ-
ct of the same source. It is a way of social perception that global powers use to
587
w w w . k a r t e p e z i r v e s i . c o m
design the world. The ideal of a single civilization (the West) destroys alternative
history and culture, it transforms societies into a freak that can neither survive
nor become Western. Destroying historical meanings through concepts, brea-
king links with the past. Because testify to the period in which each concept
arose. If language does not develop, thoughts do not thrive. Need to see this.
the success achieved anywhere in the world over the centuries, each time using
the same method causes thought blinded. The destruction of historical me-
mory, history is repeating itself into. This is a perception control. Yet civilization
is possible with respect for differences. Differences are an indication of social
and cultural wealth. But the West shows that there is no tolerance of differen-
ces at every opportunity. If we want to exist, we must possess our values, our
past, our concepts. We must keep our memory alive, protect our personality.
As a matter of fact, we are witnessing how archaic cities such as Baghdad and
Aleppo disappear. Historical monuments, libraries, population records, in short,
the culture of a nation, the tapes are destroyed, and the memories are erased.
However, these are world heritage, all of them have a treasure of history. Yet
the natural interaction of cultures enriches those cultures. A civilization that has
been imposed and destroys the alternatives has only created freaks.
With this imposition, science and reason are put into the foreground, ever-
ything else has been shown as an obstacle to the development of mankind.
However, throughout history there have been many civilizations that contribute
to science. To destroy these civilizations and only show Western civilization as
an alternative, as well as lending this civilization as the most humane and civili-
zed civilization is only possible with an illusion. It has always been a great power
that has kept science and trade in history. To follow the developments we must
make, to keep up with scientific and technological, but when we do it, we do
not forget ourselves, our essense. Because we can only offer something to the
world with our own characteristics, ourselves, as “us”. Otherwise we cannot be
anything but imitation. We must produce an alternative by rejecting every pra-
ctice that destroys society and human dignity. We can do this only by finding
ourselves. Along with reason, with a conscience, an alternative spirit, a bo-
dily-personal development as well as a spiritual-spiritual development, a world
order can be established that will bear for human dignity. Civilization begins
with respect for differences and is made sustainable by living with the other.
