The  framework  of  Sustainable  Development  Goals  (SDGs)  includes  two  specific  goals,

among  the  17  SDGs,  dedicated  to

FOOD  SECURITY

(SDG2  End  hunger,  achieve  food

security and improved nutri)on and promote sustainable agriculture) and

SUSTAINABLE

MANAGEMENT  OF  WATER

(SDG6  Ensure  availability  and  sustainable  management  of

water and sanita)on for all). For each of them there are several indicators that can be

used  to  monitor  the  magnitude  of  the  effects  produced  by  projects  under  the  PRIMA

ini)a)ve.

4PRIMA will provide PRIMA ini,a,ve with the necessary support and preparatory ac,ons

needed in order to deliver a long term partnership with secured funding for R&I

coopera,on from the par,cipa,ng countries and leverage effect at regional and

European level

based on the principles of co-ownership, integra)on, mutual and shared benefits

between the countries of both shores of the Mediterranean basin

 

Main objec)ve




Scope



To bring together the main na)onal research funding owners and/or managers

involved  in  the  PRIMA  joint  programming  process,  including  the  non-European

par)cipa)ng  states  and  their  ins)tu)ons,  around  a  jointly  designed  Strategic

Research Agenda with appropriate governance and implementa)on structures.



A  cri)cal  mass  of  players  and  increased  synergies  between  all  relevant



stakeholders  (e.g.  relevant  ministries  responsible  for  sustainable  agricultural

produc)on systems and water resources management, research ins)tu)ons and

universi)es,  farmers'  organisa)ons)  will  be  key  elements  for  addressing  the

challenge.
