Servant of God Father Tomas Tyn, OP
A prayer to obtain graces
through the intercession of the Servant of
God Father Tomas Tyn, OP
Eternal Father, abounding in mercy, you
sent your Word into
the world to lead it from
darkness to the light; we thank you for the
gifts that you have granted to your Servant
Tomas Tyn. Deign, we beseech you, to raise
him to the honours of the altars, so that the
exemplary witness that he has given us as a
worthy son of our Holy Father Dominic and
the Blessed Virgin Mary may be a spur to the
many in following Christ, and through his
intercession grant us the grace that we ask
you. Through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Our Father…, Hail Mary ..., Glory be ...
(With ecclesiastic approbation)
Born in Brno of present day Czech Republic
on May 3, 1950, after higher studies Tomas
Tyn moved to Warburg in Westphalia where
he entered the Dominican Order. He finished
his studies in Rome, pursuing a doctorate in
theology, and was ordained a priest on June
29, 1975, by Pope Paul VI. He was then
assigned to the Dominican convent in
Bologna.
He was a faithful son of Saint Dominic and a
disciple of Saint Thomas Aquinas, a first-rate
scholar in philosophy and theology, and an
ardent religious and priest especially in
preaching, and contributing to the conversion
of many people. After a short time he offered
his life to God as a sacrifice in exchange for
liberty in his native Czechoslovakia.
He died in a state of holiness, after a brief but
painful illness, on January 01, 1990, in
Neckargemünd, Germany, where he was
buried.
In 2006 the process for his beatification was
begun.
