Biography:   

Naoki  Nakashima  MD PhD  is an associate professor in the Medical Information 

Center / the chief of the international medical relations office in Kyushu University 

Hospital. He has been a specialist of diabetes mellitus for 20 years and simultaneously 

worked as a specialist of medical informatics for 10 years. He is a councilor member of 

Japanese Society of Diabetes Mellitus and the  director of the scientific committee  of 

Japan Association for  Medical Informatics. He focuses on the disease management 

methodology to prevent chronic diseases as diabetes mellitus and complications. He has 

organized the “Carna project” which aims to establish a Japanese model for disease 

management of diabetes mellitus from primary to tertiary prevention as a social system. 

From 2012, he started health checkup and remote medicine project for 10 thousands 

citizens or more in Bangladesh as a variation model of disease management. 

He is also  a founding member of “Telemedical Development Center of Asia 

(TEMDEC)” in Kyushu University which promotes  a broad band telemedical  network 

in Asia Pacific area. TEMDEC is the most active institute for international telemedicine 

in Asia-Pacific area. 

 

Presentation title: "Portable Health Clinic" a Remote Medicine trial in Developping 

countries. 

Abstract: We have conducted Portable Health Clinic Project in Bangladesh for 2 years 

as one of activities of TEMDEC. After health checkup by sensor package in both rural 

and urban areas, we stratify subjects into 4 categories and provide remote medicine

from Dhaka only for subjects affected by chronic diseases. I will present about analysis 

results on data of 10K subjects for 2 years.
