Position Description Summary


Title: Power Team Leader

Department: DLF Youth Department Location: Downtown, Dallas



Reports to: DLF Youth Director




About the Dallas Leadership Foundation: The Dallas Leadership Foundation is a Christian not-for-profit organization that develops local leaders to affect long-term change in underserved communities.
Job Summary: Under the supervision of and working directly with the Youth Department Director of Dallas Leadership Foundation, the Power Team Leader is the principal staff member responsible for engaging and mentoring youth in leadership development and life skills. Adult youth leaders will serve students in various environments such as school, camp and community. This position will require communication, both written and oral, as well as completing reports, handouts and correspondence. Successful candidates for the position of Power Team Leader will be skilled in communication, and leading teams, and can work within timelines.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Power Lunch leadership curriculum during weekly in school program.

  • Recruit students to participate in weekly Power Lunch program.

  • Administer food and monitor registration during weekly Power Lunch program.

  • Ensure attendance and outcome data is inputted into Apricot Software system.

  • Recruit additional adults to volunteer in Power Lunch program.

  • Meet regularly with the Power Lunch team to plan and create strategy for reach youth.

  • Plan and coordinate field trips (ex. College tour) for PPL in conjunction with District personnel.

  • Attend volunteer meetings and any committee or board meetings necessary to carry out the success of the Power Lunch programs.

  • Understand and support Dallas Leadership Foundation work culture.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and school administrators in support of Power programs.

  • Engage students during the summer in DLF youth programs such as Power Camp or Ring of Hope Boxing Club.

  • Teach Christian Leadership principles to students and adults in community.

  • Other DLF event and duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Successful candidates for the position of Power Team Leader are expected to possess the following qualities and attributes:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferable but not required. No previous experience necessary.

  • College degree preferable but not required.

  • One year of experience working with youth.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions in written or oral form.

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, students, and parents.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical problems such as additions, subtraction, etc.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).

  • Ability to use basic office equipment.



  • The ability to learn and use other software as necessary.

  • The ability to pass a Criminal records background check, prior to employment opportunity and annually thereafter, if applicable.
