PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Kenya Sign Language: 11th November 2004 to date.

Sign Language Interpreter:-
I have been a freelance sign language interpreter as well as worked with several organizations who advocate for the rights of the Deaf.
My work highlights include the following:-


  • Continuous Sign language interpretation for the Deaf where there is Communication Barrier.

  • Sensitizing Service providers on how to engage the Deaf effectively.

  • Huduma Care Center Staff Workshop Training on Kenyan sign Language.

  • Official Interpreter for Barclays Bank at the Career Fair 14th November 2014.

  • An external Interpreter for Kenya National Association for the Deaf and thus worked with them on several projects, workshops, forums and seminars.

  • Interpreting, editing of the first video of a Deaf Rapper in East Africa

  • Sign Language for the Deaf Students at KEPSA – Youth Empowerment Project (Kenya Private Sector Alliance)

  • Organizing Annual Deaf Talent show for DINET

  • Museum Staff Training on Kenyan sign language

  • Translation of the Constitution into Kenyan Sign Language

  • Interpreting for 2 Deaf students at Avenue Home Care studying Nursing

  • Civic Education training in Tharaka Nithi County under the Ministry of Justice (Phase 1 and Phase 2) Organizing of workshops, TOT, Q&A sessions.

  • An external interpreter for the National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).

  • UNDP – on the Disability Policy Act in Western Kenya

  • Hatua Show – aired in KBC


Diva Cosmetics Limited: 1st May 2013 to 28th February 2014.

Operations Supervisor:-
Diva Cosmetics Ltd published a local magazine for the local Kenyan market. I supervised the revenue targets via advertisers as well managing expenses.
Vuta Wire Limited: 30th November 2007 to November 2009.

Operations Supervisor:-

Vuta Wire Ltd is a leading distributor for Telkom Kenya and has been consistently ranked in their top 10 performers. I supervised the commercial operations of the company and distribution and revenue targets are key milestones that are measured on a daily basis. Telkom expects 100% availability of airtime in all retail shops in our area of operation (Limuru Zone).


Outdoor Advertising: February 27th 2006 to October 10th 2007

Sales Executive:-

Outdoor Advertising managed below and above the line advertising for large corporate organizations such as Kenya Tea Board and Kenya Pipeline Authority.

I would retain existing clients by coming up with an annual Marketing Activity and enlist new clients which contributed to monthly revenue of Ksh 300,000.

I started a project on publishing books with the aid of a guarantor, we began with creative arts that was published and sold out in Washington – USA. That department is still on-going.


Voluntary Work: January 4th 2005 to May 4th 2005

Dental and Health Clinic

The clinic was started in Kawangware slums as we realized the need to provide adequate health care to people who could not afford HMO’s at the time. We would see 100 patients a day at the health clinic and about 10 dental patients. Out of this initiative rose two more clinics in Kibera and Mukuru kayaba slums.
