DR. NEIL HALPERN OF MEMORIAL SLOAN KETTERING CANCER CENTER
JOINS BOARD OF HEALTHCARE CHAPLAINCY NETWORK
NEW YORK, NY (September 7, 2016)––Neil A. Halpern, M.D.,
chief of critical care medicine
and medical director of respiratory therapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New
York, has joined the board of directors of HealthCare Chaplaincy Network (HCCN).
The New York-based HCCN is a 55-year-old global nonprofit organization that focuses on
education,
clinical care, and research related to spiritual care in health care. It staffs the
chaplaincy departments at several hospitals in New York, including Memorial Sloan Kettering,
and provides a wide range of programs and services for both health care professionals and
consumers.
“We are delighted that Dr. Halpern is joining HealthCare Chaplaincy Network at a time when
more eyes are on the spiritual care component of health care. His rich clinical experience will
provide enormous insight as we continue to expand our educational, clinical care and research
efforts,” said Rev. Eric J. Hall, HCCN’s president and CEO.
Halpern will serve a three-year term, ending May 2019.
Halpern is also a professor of medicine and anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medical College; a
member of the editorial board of Critical Care Medicine and CHEST; and president of Critical
Care Designs, a New York-based consulting firm that assists hospitals in intensive care unit
(ICU) design, critical care medicine organization, and point-of-care testing systems
implementation. In addition, he is a prolific author and speaker specializing in innovations in
ICU design and other critical care topics.
