Application
This scholarship was established in memory of Ellen and Milo Koci, who lived and farmed near LaCrosse, Kansas. Ellen attended college and taught in a one-room school during the Great Depression. She and Milo supported and encouraged education for their children and others, supported their neighborhood school, and sent all three of their daughters to a major university. This scholarship was established as a continuing legacy to children of this community.
Criteria for awarding this scholarship:

The recipient must:

• 
  Be a graduate of USD #395 by the end of the school year in which the scholarship is awarded
  
• 
  Have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 2.75
  
• 
  Have exhibited a commitment to providing service to others as demonstrated by leadership, volunteer and/ or community service efforts in school and/or community
  
• 
  Have been accepted by or attending an accredited institution of higher learning.
  
• 
  Submit this application by April 1 to your High School Counselor.

I understand that if I am awarded the Ellen and Milo Koci Memorial Scholarship, the funds must be used to defray the costs of my post-secondary education. If I should be named recipient of this scholarship and be unable for any reason to enter a post-secondary institution within six months of winning the scholarship, I will return the funds so they can be used by another recipient. I understand that these funds will be sent to the school that I am planning to attend.
