FAKE NEWS AND PROPAGANDA AGAINST FREEDOM OF INFORMATION
DURING THE NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT
Summary
Fake news and propaganda are a problem that the whole world is struggling to fight. In particular, it is
very difficult for the states to control fake news disseminate on the Internet that harms the interests of the
states. The measures taken by states in this area sometimes impede freedom of expression, which is one of
the fundamental human rights, and in this connection, access to information. Although fake news and
propaganda are used for distinctive purposes in different places, the article highlights the measures taken by
Azerbaijan to combat politically motivated fake news and propaganda during the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict, their causes and consequences.
