| EnCase ® Forensic v7 is the most flexible digital investigation solution available, capable of performing effectively on a variety of different computer configurations. The following describes both the required components for Version 7, as well as the recommended configuration that will enable examiners to get the most out of EnCase.

Guidance Software recommends running EnCase on the same platform as the operating system. Running 32-bit EnCase on a 64-bit platform provides only basic snapshot information such as ports or processes. Some decryption products only contain 32-bit integration. In these circumstances, when decrypting devices, columns, or files, you many need to run the 32-bit version of EnCase on a 64-bit version of Windows. 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Server 2003 and 2008, Server 2008 R2, Vista, and Windows 7 can be run with both 32-bit and 64-bit EnCase.
