Report
In the first game of their double header the Eagles were taking on West Bromwich Albion FC Basketball.
Having played them in two very close games last year, the Eagles knew they would have a tough test on their hands.
Similarly to last week the Eagles started the game well and got off to a 6-2 start. West Brom however came straight back with a small run and ended the quarter leading 14-9.
The Eagles responded in the 2nd quarter with some great defence and limited their opponents to just 2pts in the first 7 mins of the quarter. West Brom however answered with some tough shots to finish the half with a 21-20 lead.
The third quarter was a back and forth affair with the lead changing several times. West Brom came out on top with a slim 4 point lead going into the last 10 minutes.
The Eagles fought hard and with 4 minutes to go they had a 2 point lead. They were however unable to contain the outside shooting from West Brom and a couple of dagger threes gave the hosts a 48-44 win.
A decent game by the Eagles who did not play their best in a scrappy first away game. Encouraging signs for the season ahead and if the Eagles can maintain the consistency shown in the first half of the quarters then they should have a successful season.
Eagles head to Nottingham tomorrow for the first round of the cup.
