Focus on … prefi xes and suffi xes
Remind students to scan the text for the base form (
aware, 
select
, etc.) of the words. You could set a time limit for this 
exercise.
Before doing the second part of the exercise, explain that h-l 
correlate with b-f respectively; therefore, they need to use the 
word 
aware
that is in b in h. 
Students could also write more sentences using another form 
of the six base words. (Note that the only other form of 
aware
apart from the base form itself is the adverb 
unawares
.)
More activities
Encourage students to read the entry about reading on the 
www.wikipedia.org website. Ask them if this article covers the 
same topics as the 
New World Book
entry, or does it cover 
further topics? What can they learn about reading from the 
online entry?
