Installing and Configuring Jython on a

Windows Application Server
Version 7.0+

I.Overview

The following document details the steps involved in setting up a Jython environment in BladeLogic.

II.Instructions

1.Install the BladeLogic Application Server.
2.Download Jython 2.1 from http://www.jython.org/.
3.Open a CMD.EXE window on your server. CD to the directory into which you downloaded Jython.
4.Run “java jython-21 –f windows –o “c:\program files\bladelogic\om\jython” core”.
(i)NOTE: This command references the file named jython-21.class, but excludes the .class extension. This is the correct syntax.
(ii)NOTE: You may have to reference java at its absolute path, which is \jre\bin.
5.Edit \bin\bljython.bat.
(i)Add the Jython home value directly after the two REM statements at the top of the file.
(a)SET JYTHON_HOME=c:\Progra~1\BladeLogic\OM\jython
(ii)Save and close. This will ensure that your Jython batch file can find Jython at its home directory.
6.Edit the C:\Program Files\BladeLogic\OM\jython\registry file.
(i)Add the following line to the top of the file

python.path = c:\\Progra~1\\BladeLogic\\OM\\br\\jython
(ii)Save and close. This will ensure that Jython can find the BladeLogic Jython modules to access the CLI.
7.Test that bljython.bat runs properly.
(i)Open an NSH window.
(a)Run “bljython.bat”. This should load Jython.
(ii)Run “import sys”
(iii)Run “import bladelogic.cli.CLI as blcli”
(iv)Run “jli = blcli.CLI()”
(v)Run “jli.connect()”
(vi)If this all runs without errors and prompts you for BLCLI authentication (unless you already have a user_info.dat file configured), then Jython is working properly.
