5.3.3.3 
PV cell solar simulator 
For PV cell solar simulators, care shall be taken that multiple reflection between the output 
optics (if present) of the light source and the irradiance detector does not cause measurement 
errors. 
a) Define a corner of the designated test area as reference point and use it as starting 
position of the irradiance detector, so that the detector’s edge coincides with the reference 
point. 
b) Move the irradiance detector across the total test area and take simultaneously recordings 
with the stationary cell. Step width for moving the irradiance detector shall be maximum 
1/5 of the smallest dimension of the test area . 
c) Determine spatial non-uniformity using formula (1) and using measurements from step b). 
d) The class of the simulator for non-uniformity is given by the following:
