  • Youngest of 5 kids

  • Soon moved to Pasadena,California.

  • 1945 played on negro league-Kansas City Monarchs



Branch Rickey

  • 1947-president of Brooklyn Dodgers

  • Asked Jackie Robinson to play

  • Played first game at Ebbets field with the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15,1957

Great American Hero

  • It was because of Jackie Robinson that whites and blacks can play professional sports in America. He led the Dodgers to 6 World Series and one World Series Championship. After he retired, he became the first black vice president of a big American corporation. Today, they have created a movie called, “42” that tells all about the life he led.
