Maintaining your body is similar to maintaining a car. You need to pay
attention and make good choices to avoid problems. For example, if you
continually
hit potholes, eventually you’ll either get a flat tire or the wheels
will go out of alignment on your car. Driving with low or dirty oil will
likely lead to engine damage. Putting in the
wrong kind of fuel such as
diesel instead of gasoline will lead to motor problems. All of these choices
affect your car, and it will eventually break down.
It’s the same with our bodies. Too often, we dismiss
the value of preventive
maintenance. We frequently eat food that promotes inflammation and harms
our bodies. Or we run our bodies too hard without allowing for adequate
amounts of rest. In order to keep our bodies
and minds running well for
many years, it’s important to invest in daily maintenance and upkeep.
Engine = Exercise
You use your car regularly so that the engine will work well
when you need it. The same goes
for regularly exercising
your body.
Weight = Weight
Too much weight makes the car, and your body,
work too
hard and stresses its parts.
Gas = Nutrition
Give your body the nutrition fuel it was designed to use. You
would never put diesel fuel in an engine designed to run on
gasoline.
