Commuting green. 
Biking, walking or taking public transit to get
from place to place makes your days more active and means you’re
burning fewer fossil fuels.
Shopping local. 
Spending your food money at the local farmers
market means you’re more likely to buy whole, plant-based foods with
less packaging and less energy needed to transport the foods. Plus,
local, small-scale food producers are more likely to use organic
practices that are good for the land. Some local farmers are flash
freezing their produce and making it available for purchase in the
nonharvest months.
Growing your own food.
Gardening in your backyard or at a
community garden can produce healthy food and keep you active. It
can also contribute to more green space around you and provide
habitat for animals and pollinators. To get started, try something
simple such as a tomato plant, which is the vegetable most frequently
grown at home.


Everyday ways to practice meditation
Don’t let the thought of meditating the “right” way add to
your stress. You can certainly attend special meditation
centers or group classes led by trained instructors. But you
can also practice meditation easily on your own. All you
really need is a few minutes of quality time. Here are some
ways to try:
Breathe deeply. 
This technique is good for beginners
because breathing is a natural function. Focus all your
attention on your breathing. Concentrate on feeling and
listening as you inhale and exhale through your nostrils.
Breathe deeply and slowly.
Scan your body. 
Become aware of your body’s various
sensations, whether that’s pain, tension, warmth or
relaxation. Combine body scanning with breathing
exercises, and imagine breathing heat or relaxation into
and out of different parts of your body.
