M A N M A N Portable Air Defence System
What is a MANPADS? Purpose? - Legitimate military weapon, employed for Point Defence of vital assets and self-protection against air attack
- Almost all use Passive Infrared homing guidance
- Locks onto heat sources such as aircraft engines
- Fire and forget, passive system
Performance? - Range: out to 5 km/3 miles
- Altitude: up to 3,500m/11,500 ft Above Ground Level

How to fire a MANPADS - Select and identify suitable target
- Activate Battery Coolant Unit (BCU)
- Lock onto target
- Pull trigger
- Missile launches
- Can be achieved in under 10 seconds by an experienced operator
