Mehriban Aliyeva (full name: Mehriban Arif gizi Aliyeva) - First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Spouse of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Azerbaijan Cultural Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO.

Mehriban Aliyeva was born on August 26, 1964 in Baku in an educated family. He is a writer, literary critic, Honored Scientist of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Philology (1947), Professor Mir Jalal Pashayev, and a well-known journalist, educator and Honored Scientist Nasir Imanguliyev.

His father Arif Pashayev is a prominent scientist, educator, public figure, academician of the National Academy of Sciences, laureate of the State Prize, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Since 1996 he is the rector of the National Aviation Academy of the State Concern “Azerbaijan Airlines”.

His mother Aida Imanguliyeva is an orientalist, literary critic, critic, translator, doctor of philology, professor. Aida Imanguliyeva is the first doctor of Arabic literature in Azerbaijan, the first professor - woman. His numerous scientific works (3 monographs, more than 70 scientific articles) explore the synthesis of Western and Eastern cultural traditions, the development of creative styles, and the creation of new literary trends, not only for future studies of Arabic literature but also for all new Eastern literature. is created condition. He started his active social activities in 1995 with the establishment of the Azerbaijan Cultural Foundation, which he now heads. In 1996, he founded “Azerbaijan-Heritage” magazine, published in three languages ​​(Azerbaijani, English and Russian) to promote the Azerbaijani culture.

Mehriban Aliyeva is the president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which was established to study the rich heritage of Heydar Aliyev and to convey its ideas of national statehood to new generations.

Established on May 10, 2004 - the birthday of Heydar Aliyev, the goal of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is to support the work on the protection of national and spiritual values ​​and the widespread propaganda of Azerbaijani culture, various programs and activities aimed at improving the welfare of the population. supporting health and sport development projects, helping children and young people grow up to be healthy, well-versed, ethically and spiritually-minded citizens, and assist in the implementation of measures to enhance Azerbaijan's international image.

Throughout the decade, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been able to implement projects covering a wide range of areas, collaborate with reputable organizations around the world, and hold great international conferences and festivals. The projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation are widely welcomed by the public both in Azerbaijan and abroad.

Special attention is paid to the development of sports in the activities of Mehriban Aliyeva. On December 28, 2004, Mehriban Aliyeva was elected a member of the NOC Executive Committee at the 4th General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On 8 December 2012, the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee decided to hold the first European Games in 2015 in Baku. The Organizing Committee was established on January 17, 2013, with the aim of holding the First European Games at a high level. On January 21, 2016, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the First European Games of Baku 2015, Mehriban Aliyeva, was awarded the highest award of the European Olympic Committees by the decision of the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees for special services in sports development in Europe.
