Farid U. Alakbarli, PhD, Prof.
Head of the Department of Information and Translation of the Institute of Manuscripts of the Azerbaijan
National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences, President of the Azerbaijan Association of
Medical Historians, National Delegate from Azerbaijan to International Society for the History of
Medicine (ISHM) and Member of the Executive Council of ISHM.
Prof. Alakbarli is a historian researching medieval manuscripts. He is the author of about 105 scientific
and educational articles and 19 books. His main contributions are on medieval manuscripts, history of
culture, science and medicine in the South Europe and Middle East.

history of science and culture, history of ancient and medieval Middle East and
Mediterranean. Medical anthropology. Interrelation between ancient European and Asian
civilizations in the field science and culture.

History and culture in ancient and medieval Middle East and Mediterranean. History of
medicine and pharmacy. Phytotherapy, ethnobotany and ethnomedicine. Medical
Anthropology. Russian, Turkish, Azeri and Persian culture, language and literature.
