French-Israeli banker with ties to disgraced former IMF chief Strauss-Kahn dies in apparent suicide

A top business associate of former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn committed suicide in Tel Aviv on Thursday, the 23^rd October 2014, according to numerous reports.

Thierry Leyne, a banker who held dual French and Israeli citizenship, reportedly leapt to his death from his 23rd-floor luxury apartment in central Tel Aviv. He was 48 years old.

Turkish woman detained for tweeting photo of herself stepping on Koran

Woman, who told police she was an atheist, posted photo to her Twitter account and angered the Ankara mayor.



Turkish police detained a woman after she posted a photo of herself standing on pages of the Koran, Hurriyet daily news reported on Wednesday.

The woman posted a photo of her feet, clad in red heels, stepping on pages of the holy book to her Twitter account under the Twitter handle @kedibiti.

Ankara Mayor Melih Gökçek filed a complaint against the woman, who was identified by police as an Istanbul resident with the initials G.Y. She reportedly told police she was an atheist during a brief interrogation.

Police released the woman after questioning but a lawsuit has been filed against her for “triggering hatred in society” and “slandering,” the report said.
