DEPORT

THY

NEIGHBOUR

Vote Conservative

The Conservatives refuse to guarantee the rights

of millions of EU nationals who live in Britain and

have disregarded the millions of UK nationals

living outside the UK. Their track record includes

incorrect deportation of students, £35,000 income

threshold for non-EU citizens, and breaking their

promise on helping child refugees. Despite all

these harsh measures, immigration figures still

did not decrease significantly under May’s tenure

as Home Secretary. Don’t vote for ideological

migration policies, which undermine community

cohesion, damage the British economy and

destroy lives.

LET’S BUILD

A ONE-PARTY

STATE

Vote Conservative

When Theresa May called for a snap general

election, she claimed that the opposition was

jeopardising the government, a claim that

is not only factually false but also extremely

dangerous. By branding any opposition as

“saboteurs” and “enemies of the state”, the

Conservatives and the right-wing media are

undermining democracy. Let’s not forget that

80% of our country’s printed media is owned

and controlled by just five billionaires.

HEALTHCARE

The Conservatives fought a legal battle

against reforms to Personal Independence

Payments which would extend disability benefit

to 160,000 people with conditions such as

dementia. The Conservatives also stood by as

the Red Cross declared a “humanitarian crisis” in the NHS.

The charity made its declaration in January after two patients

died while waiting for treatment on trolleys in corridors at

the Worcestershire Royal Hospital. Just a few days later,

more than 20 hospitals issued “black alerts”, meaning they

were unable to guarantee emergency care. Dr Mark Holland,

president of the Society for Acute Medicine, said: “For a long

time we have been saying that the NHS is on the edge. But

people dying after long spells in hospital corridors shows that

the NHS is now broken”.

DEBATES

ARE FOR

LOSERS

Vote Conservative

Theresa May has told the BBC that she will not take part

in TV debates ahead of the planned general election. Mr

Corbyn said the PM’s stance was “rather strange”, adding:

“I say to Theresa May, who said this election was about

leadership, Come on and show some.” The return of

Lynton Crosby as Conservative campaign manager, now

a Sir in recognition of the scurrilous campaign he ran in

2015, provides advance notice of what to expect: smears

of leading Labour figures, the ceaseless opposition of

Labour ‘chaos’ to Tory ‘stability’, scapegoating and fear-

mongering over immigration, spreading untruths about

public spending, and latterly, the need for a strong hand to

see down the pesky Eurocrats in the Brexit negotiations.

“Let’s have the debates. It’s what democracy needs and

what the British people deserve.” #DontVoteConservative

CLOSE

OUR

LIBRARIES

Since the Conservatives entered Number 10

more than 400 full-time libraries have closed in

England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

– with spending dropping by around £180

million. Nick Poole of the Institute of Library

and Information Professionals said : “It’s hard to

understand the impact of these cuts when you’re

well-off, have easy access to the internet and can

buy the books you want. But for millions of poor

families, jobseekers and people with disabilities,

a library is a lifeline.” #DontVoteConservative

DISABLED

Disabled people won’t be able to pay for essential items because

of government cuts to benefits, MPs have claimed. The new

tranche of cuts to the Employment and Support Allowance

(ESA) were meant to encourage disabled people to find work.

But that’s been slammed by the Commons Work and Pensions

Committee who said that it was: “ambiguous at best”. From

April, new claimants will be hit with a reduction of £29.05 in their

entitlement, which will fall to £73.10 a week, the same rate as

people currently claiming Job Seekers Allowance. According to

the charity Scope, disabled people’s extra costs average out at

about £550 a month, which £29 a week won’t even come close to

covering. Liz Sayce, from Disability Rights UK, has this to say on

the cut: “We’re not aware of one single disability employment or

benefits expert who thinks this particular cut will be an incentive

for disabled people to get a job.” #DontVoteConservative

LIVE

The failure to replace council housing stock sold

off by Thatcher in the 1980s was great for buy-to-

let landlords, but terrible for the next generation.

A deregulated private rented sector offers a toxic

mix of high rents and insecure tenancies. Home

ownership is at its lowest level in three decades,

especially among younger Britons, who often

can’t afford to leave their family home. To make

matters worse, jobseekers aged 18 to 21 are no

longer able to get Housing Benefit. Charities

have warned this could force thousands of young

people onto the streets. #DontVoteConservative

DEMOCRACY

IS

OVERRATED

Vote Conservative

Theresa May said she is calling a general

election because parliament was blocking Brexit.

However, that’s not true: three-quarters of this

parliament voted for Article 50 and two-thirds of

the Lords voted for Article 50. The day after she

announced her decision, the Daily Mail’s headline

read ‘CRUSH THE SABOTEURS’. May did not

condemn this call. Paul Dacre, the newspaper’s

editor, has been treated to a private dinner by

May in Downing Street, the only media figure to

receive hospitality from the PM during the first six

months she was in post. #DontVoteConservative
