About Pi Mu Epsilon Pi Mu Epsilon, the National Honorary Mathematics Society, is an organization whose purpose is the promotion of scholarly activity among mathematicians. Pi Mu Epsilon was founded at Syracuse University on May 25, 1914.
The Penn State Erie chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, designated Pennsylvania Alpha Beta, is the 362nd chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon. All chapters have been installed at institutions that have demonstrated a high-level of interest in undergraduate mathematics research.
The nineteen students and two faculty member initiates of the Pennsylvania Alpha Beta Chapter are honored tonight by the faculty of the Penn State Erie School of Science and Pi Mu Epsilon for their interest, ability, and accomplishments in the field of mathematics.
All Pi Mu Epsilon initiates complete their induction with the following pledge:
I solemnly promise that I will exert my best efforts to promote true scholarship, particularly in mathematics; and that I will support the objectives of the Pi Mu Epsilon Honor Society.
