Electoral Turnout

The turnout in Arboretum for the 2011 local election was slightly higher than the Derby figure
and did show an increase on the 2008 election.
Electoral turnout tends to be low in the north of the ward and much higher towards the south,
particularly around Rosehill (see map below).

People Attending Forums and Boards
Arboretum had a lower average attendance at the neighbourhood forums than the city
average although the December attendance was 50.

The city centre had a very much lower average attendance at the neighbourhood forums
than the Derby average and the lowest average attendance of any forum.

Community Engagement/Empowerment
According to the Derby CSP 2008 Survey a comparable percentage of Arboretum residents
had been involved in a decision making groups or had been a councillor when compared to
the city figure.
More People Feel They Belong to Their Neighbourhood
This will be measured via the Derby Plan Survey. Confidence levels however will not be very
high for ward level information but figures will provide an indication of the feeling in
Arboretum. The results for this should be available shortly and will be included in the next
update of the profiles.
Arboretum has a lower rate of people who feel they very strongly/fairly strongly belong to
their local neighbourhood when compared to the city figure.
