Singing: Eleonora Mustafovska and Šani Rifati; as dear Esma 

Redzepova is no longer with us, we are happy that Eleonora will 

support us as a singing teacher. She was trained by Esma and toured 

with her during the last years. 

Instruments: Clarinet, Saxophone, Accordion, Trumpet, Tuba, Tapan-

Davul, Doumbek (complex and easy Roma rhythms), Baritone horn, 

with special attention to Romani ornamentation, Back up sections and 

harmonies.

We are happy to invite you to the 1

 ever Roma Camp in Shutka-Skopje 

MK. It will take place in the last week of July 2017. 

It will be full with music, singing, dancing, wonderful people and a lot 

of fun. 

Why Šutka? Šutka isn’t exactly a tourist destination, and many 

Macedonians would never even entertain the thought of visiting this 

neighborhood. 

Šutka, with 40,000 inhabitants, is one of the largest Romani mahalas in 

Europe. Visiting Šutka feels like entering another country.  

The architecture features very poor houses next to huge, colorful ones 

decorated with gaudy lion statues and wagon wheels. People speak 

Romani. Life is lived out on the streets, and it’s lived loudly.  

It is nothing like a typical Macedonian or in Eastern European 

neighborhood.   

That is why Šutka doesn´t have a single hotel

. 

For the Seminar we have 

arranged lodging in Ferus Mustafov´s motel, not to far from Šutka. It is 

small but it has a nice big cool hall where we will hold music and dance 

classes and have dinner. Because the hotel is small, we have also 

arranged private apartments in the heart of Šutka.

We offer dance, singing and music lessons. Instrumental lessons 

depend on the participants. You can choose accordion, trumpet, 

saxophone / clarinet, tuba and tapan. Eleonora and Šani Rifati will 

teach singing lessons. Eleonora will teach two afternoons.

One evening Ferus and his band will play for us 

One evening we are invited to attend a Roma wedding in Šutka; on this 

day there will be no afternoon lessons.

Registration and Fees: 

The fee for the camp is 600 €. It includes lodging for seven nights, 

breakfast and dinner, dancing, singing and instrumental lessons and 

airport transfers. (For the wedding you have to calculate an extra 50 € 

as a gift. 

Places are limited.
