Lessons Learned from the Milwaukee Mathematics Partnership

The Milwaukee Mathematics Partnership (MMP) began in 2003 as a collaboration among a large urban district, a four-year research university, and a two-year technical college, namely the Milwaukee Public Schools, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the Milwaukee Area Technical College. The MMP engages mathematics faculty, mathematics educators, and PK-12 educators in leading a collective vision of deep learning and quality teaching of challenging mathematics. In this session, we will share some of the major lessons we have learned from our partnership work.

DeAnn Huinker, Professor, Mathematics Education, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee

Hank Kepner, Professor Emeritus, Mathematics Education, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee

Kevin McLeod, Associate Professor, Mathematics, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee

Mary Mooney, Milwaukee Public Schools

David Ruszkiewicz, Professor, Mathematics, Milwaukee Area Technical College

Beth Schefelker, Milwaukee Public Schools

Michael Steele, Associate Professor, Mathematics Education, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee
