ST. HARALAMBOS CHURCH COMMUNITY NEWS
Christian Kellamis CONGRATULATIONS SCOUTS!
Emily DiDonato
Christian was recently elevated to an Eagle Scout.
To achieve this high honor, Christian, earned 24
merit badges in many categories. Twenty-one merit
badges are required. In addition, he was required to
complete an extensive community service project
that would incorporate organizational and leadership
skills. For his community project, he designed and built a new ar-
chive room at our church. He presented the idea and received ap-
proval from the Parish Council, Men’s Club and Boy Scout Council.
He then secured materials and volunteers to help implement the
project. In the old boy’s locker room, he and his crew built a wall and
a door to close off one of the old shower stalls. They also built
shelves within the room that now houses the church’s historical
documents. The project took nearly 100 volunteer hours to com-
plete. Volunteers included family members, church members and
fellow Boy Scouts. Construction, painting and relocating documents
took place over several weekends in the fall. We at St. Haralambos
will always be indebted to Christian and his crew for this most worthy
and useful gift to our church! Sincerest congratulations Christian!
Emily has been a part of Girl Scouts
since she was in the first grade.
Through the Girl Scouts, she has
participated in many worthwhile
causes. Emily achieved her Bronze
Award by raising money for Wigs for
Kids and donating 13 inches of her own hair.
Emily next achieved her Silver Award by making
ornaments with her troupe and decorating a tree
for the Children’s Hospital Tree Festival. Finally,
Emily achieved her Gold Award which is the high-
est honor for a Girl Scout. Emily has a love and
passion for reading and started a book club for
fifth and sixth graders at Copley-Fairlawn Middle
School. Emily picks award winning novels with the
students and they have amazing discussions
about the novels they read. Way to go Emily,
much congratulations from your church family!
