To Kill a Mockingbird. Guión. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. Scene: The trial. The asistant: Mayella Violet Ewell. Put your hand on the Bible, please. Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God? Sit down, please. The prosecutor: Now, Mayella... suppose you tell us just what happened, huh? Mayella: Well, sir... Sir... I was s-sittin' on the porch... and he come along. There's this old chifforobe in the yard, and I-I said, "You come in here, boy, and bust up this chifforobe, and I'll give you a nickel." So he come on in the yard,and I go in the house to get him the nickel... and I turn around and before I know it, he's on me. I fought and hollered... but he had me around the neck... and he hit me, again and again. And the next thing I knew, Papa was in the room... a-standin' over me, hollerin', "Who done it? Who done it?" The prosecutor: Thank you, Mayella. Your witness, Atticus. Atticus: Miss Mayella, is your father good to you? I mean, is he easy to get along with? Mayella: Does tolerable. Except when he's drinking. Atticus: When he's riled... has he ever beaten you? Mayella: My pa's never touched a hair on my head in my life. Atticus: You say that you asked Tom to come in and chop up a... What was it? Mayella: A chifforobe. Atticus: Was that the first time that you ever asked him to come inside the fence? Mayella: Yes. Atticus: Didn't you ever ask him to come inside the fence before? Mayella: I might have. Atticus: Can you remember any other occasion? Mayella: No. Atticus:You say, "He caught me, he choked me, and he took advantage of me." Is that right? Do you remember him beating you about the face? Mayella: No. I don't... recollect if he hit me. I mean, y-yes! H-He hit me! He hit me! Atticus: Thank you. Now will you identify the man who beat you. Mayella: I most certainly will. Sittin' right yonder. Atticus: Tom, will you stand up, please? Let Miss Mayella have a good long look at you. Tom, will you catch this, please? Thank you. Now, then, this time, will you please catch it with your left hand. Tom: I can't, sir. Atticus: Why can't you? Tom: I can't use my left hand at all. To kill a Mockingbird – Actividad 1 Ésta es una actividad introductoria: Los alumnos visionan la escena seleccionada, sin tener el guión delante, y posteriormente, se les pide que den su opinión sobre lo que creen que ha pasado antes de dicha escena y lo que creen que va a ocurrir después. En esta primera actividad no tendrán en cuenta las dudas de vocabulario o expresiones. Será simplemente un ejercicio de comprensión oral y, posteriormente, de expresión oral.

To Kill a Mockingbird – Actividad 2 Se entregan a los alumnos tres guiones diferentes y, en pequeños grupos o en parejas, han de decidir cuál es el que corresponde a la escena que han visto. Una vez seleccionado el guión correcto, se comentarán en clase las dudas de vocabulario o expresiones que puedan tener. Las destrezas que se trabajarán, pues, serán la de comprensión y expresión oral.

To Kill a Mockingbird – Actividad 3 Los alumnos volverán a visionar la escena de la película mientras siguen el guión. En el guión habrá algunos "errores" que tendrán que tendrán que corregir (concretamente algunas palabras que no son las que los personajes dicen). Se trata pues de una actividad de comprensión oral.

To Kill a Mockingbird – Actividad 4

Los alumnos visionarán la escena nuevamente, esta vez sin voz, y le podrán voz a los personajes.

Esto se puede hacer dividiendo la escena en partes y que varios grupos de alumnos doblen cada pequeña escena.

Se les pedirá que tengan en cuenta aspectos como la entonación.

To Kill a Mockingbird – Actividad 5

Como actividad final de expresión escrita, se pedirá a los alumnos que, en pequeños grupos, escriban un guión alternativo, cambiando las intervenciones de los distintos personajes. Posteriormente, entre todos se elegirá el mejor guión.
