Heating, ventilation and air-
conditioning
In the oKsigen building, air handling units
ensure a constant supply of fresh air. The
temperature is controlled through systems in
the ceilings, which are activated in response
to the heating and cooling requirements
within the buildings. All installations are
controlled and constantly monitored by Central
Technical Management; this system allows
for temperature settings to be adjusted in the
various zones (meeting rooms, workspaces,
etc.) according to users’ needs. This system
also optimises energy consumption.
The system uses external temperatures, daylight
hours and building occupancy patterns to
predict the correct settings. Blinds are operated
automatically depending on solar energy levels.
Temporary exceptions for each row of desks are
possible, but they may mean that temperature
levels are not the most comfortable for all
occupants. The temperature may be increased
or decreased temporarily using a switch located
near the window.
Lighting, blinds
In each office area and in the meeting rooms,
ceiling lights and blinds are operated either by
a switch or by a motion sensor.
In oKsigen, workstations are lit by LED table
lamps that switch on and off automatically
using a motion sensor. Brightness levels
can be set individually and will then change
automatically in response to external lighting
levels without the user needing to take further
action.
Lifts
Two duplex lifts link levels -3 and -4 of the
underground car parks and level -1 of the Rue
Intérieure.
One sextuplex (group of six lifts) links levels -1
to 13 of the oKsigen building.
One individual lift links levels 13, 14
(Panorama
Room) and 15 (terrace).
The oKsigen building also as a goods lift
enabling people and equipment to be
transported from level -2 to the top level of
each of the buildings.

Environmental certification
In the planning stages of the project, great care
was taken regarding environmental issues. We
paid particularly close attention to ecologically
responsible technologies and minimising
our consumption of energy and natural
resources. The project aims to obtain triple
environmental certification at European level.
In addition to the Exceptional HQE™ certificate
that was awarded during the construction
phase, the project is also designed to fulfil
the requirements for the DGNB “Silver” and
BREEAM “Excellent” certifications.
