Woodrow and Loyal Hoffman Scholarship Fund - Woodrow and Loyal Hoffman were brothers who farmed and raised livestock in Scott County. They moved to Scott County just after finishing high school with their family. Life on the plains was not easy. When they first moved to the area there wasn't enough room in the original house for everyone to sleep, so Loyal and Woodrow slept in the wash house. There was no heat and would often times "skate" out to go to bed at night. Their mother passed away in the 1950's leaving their dad alone. The brothers took care of their father for the next 20 years. They wanted to take care of their father, it was the right thing to do. Since they didn't have families of their own, their hope was to help others in Scott County. By providing scholarships for the youth of the county they hoped those receiving the scholarships would go on to do something positive for mankind. Each year 2 $5,000 scholarships are given to one male and one female senior from Scott Community High School each year.
