VOLCANOES
Please choose one volcano, you will need to research the eruption using a number of sources of information including; the cuttings file in the library, any books on volcanoes from the library or the Internet. You must present your information under a number of headings as listed below. The total length should be approximately 500 words but must have pictures and maps downloaded from web sites.

Name of volcano.

Geographical location - country and place.
3. Geological location - relationship to plate margins map with volcano marked.
4. Date and time of eruption and / or frequency of eruptions over time.
5. Description of volcano – type: acid, intermediate, basic and the products: lava flows and pyroclasts.
6. Type of eruption and violence of eruption.
7. Appearance of volcano before and after it erupted – if different.
8. Effects of eruption.
Other information to include:
(a) How many lives lost.
(b) Extent of lava flows/ash falls.
(c) How much destruction occurred.
(d) Landslips and subsidence.
(e) Cost of damage.
Any benefits of the volcanic activity.
The report is due in in your first lesson back in September.
