Strand Palace launches live music night for emerging talent

The Strand Palace, one of London’s most iconic hotels has announced the launch of a brand new monthly music night ‘Rock the Strand’. The new event will showcase a diverse range of talented and upcoming artists from a variety of genres.

Kicking off on the 23 February, Rock the Strand will take place on the fourth Thursday of every month in the hotel’s newly refurbished Lounge Bar. It will be free to attend and revellers will be able to enjoy tipples from the bar’s extensive drinks menu, which includes bottled beers, ciders, aperitifs and cocktails.
Tony Moore, who has had a long and eclectic career in the music business, will curate the show. Tony started as an original member of Iron Maiden, and then went on to play keyboards in Cutting Crew through the 80s. In the 90s he launched the legendary Kashmir Klub where he created a stage for a whole new generation of acoustic artists to learn their craft and gain an audience.
Performers like Damien Rice, KT Tunstall, The Feeling, Imogen Heap and many more made their debut with him. For the last 14 years he has continued that passion for new music by introducing acts like Ed Sheeran, Jamie Lawson, James Bay and hundreds of others. Now, working with the Strand Palace Hotel, he will be bringing some of the most exciting and dynamic performers to central London.

“We’re so excited about the launch of Rock the Strand! As well as providing added value for our customers, we want to give upcoming artists a platform to showcase their talents and shine a spotlight on some of the best new acts around.

“This initiative is our first foray into live music, but with an industry legend like Tony Moore on-board we’re hoping it will be a huge success.”

The inaugural event on Thursday 23 February will see two of the UK’s most exciting emerging artists ‘Rock the Strand’.
8.00pm - 8.45pm

Singer/songwriter Jack Francis will take to the stage to play an intimate acoustic set. Southampton Music Magazine recently described Jack’s sound as "Hauntingly wonderful acoustic tunes, tinged with an old style Americana."

9.15pm-10.15pm

ILONA is a truly original performer with a unique tone, a natural sense of dynamics and the ability to sing a lyric, tell a story and make people know she means it. BBC London described her voice as “a blend of some the greatest singers of the last 30 years in one person.”
