Downloading and Installing VLC Media Player - Windows 

 

These instructions will explain how to download and install VLC Media Player for assistance in opening 

live webcasts and various media files on Windows. Please follow these directions in order at one time 

through to completion. 

1.

 

While connected to the Internet on the computer you wish to install VLC on, please navigate to 

the following link and click the download button in the center of the screen: 

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Navigate to your Downloads folder, and open the most recent downloaded item 

3.

 

Double click the VLC installer file and navigate through the install process 

4.

 

Open your web browser and navigate back to the Franklin Pierce University Webcast link 

5.

 

Click the link to download the stream. If the broadcast tries to open in your browser, try right-

clicking the link and select "Save link as" or "Save target as" to download the stream file: 

 

6.

 

Once the file is downloaded from that link, navigate back to your Downloads folder. 

7.

 

Right click on the newest downloaded file and select Open With -> VLC media player:

*Note, if the VLC option is not available, select Choose default program and navigate to the VLC 

program
