DECLARE GLOBAL POSITIONING DEVICE (GPS) AS SURPLUS AND
AUTHORIZE TRADE-IN FOR NEW GPS DEVICE, PURSUANT TO
SECTION 263.152(A)(2) OF THE TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE.
Purchasing Recommendation and Comments:
Purchasing concurs and
recommends approval of requested action. This procurement action meets
the compliance requirements as outlined by the statutes.
TNR requests approval to trade in one existing Trimble Geo XT 2008
Series GPS Unit for an $843
.
75 credit towards the purchase of one new
Trimble Geo XT GPS Unit. TNR requires GPS units to more efficiently
collect field information to maintain a map of the county storm water
drainage system as required by the Texas Commission for Environmental
Quality (TCEQ). The new Gee XT unit will replace the older unit, which is
no longer functional.
TNR recommends purchasing a new Trimble Geo XT GPS Unit for
$5683.12. With the trade in allowance of $843.75, the net price will be
$4839.37. Based on our experience with these units, it will serve the needs
of the MS4 mapping effort for 3-5 years.
