USB Console Driver Install Guide

DRIVER INSTALLATION
1. Download driver from cisco.com website
A. Make sure to install the correct OS type e.g., 32-Bit or 64-Bit

TIP: To download USB Driver, go to the “downloads” page of any switch that supports the USB console. An option should be
available to download the driver. It does not matter what page the driver is downloaded, it will support all USB console
supported devices

2. Run as Administrator Installer

3. Continue with installation and simply click next

4. A reboot will be required after installation


POST-INSTALLATION:
1. After the reboot, the driver may still not be installed until a Cisco device is connected to it
A. Connect your USB Console to your computer and to the Cisco device
-A Driver installation pop-up will appear, wait for it to finish and install successfully




NOTE: Do not yet remove the connection from your computer to the Cisco device. Doing so will remove the instance on
the device manager

2. Verify/Configure serial port. Go to Windows Device Manager

RUN: devmgmt.msc or CMD Prompt: start devmgmt.msc

3. Install “Cisco Serial” driver package by right-clicking Cisco Serial(COM4) and click: “Update Driver Software”

SELECT: “Browse My Computer for Driver Software” -> “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”

4. Select: “Cisco Serial” and click: Next
5. Driver now successfully installed

6. Use your terminal software to access the USB console

A. Match the COM port on your terminal software to the COM port on the device manager.
-There are instances that the COM ID changes
