FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY 2015
UPDATE FROM STEERING COMMITTEE
On behalf of this committee, we want to thank all of
you who continue to honor your commitment to the
Building Fund. Our thanks also to those who did not
sign a pledge card but have been very faithful in sup-
porting this cause. A special thanks to Harold McDou-
gall and other members of the Building Committee for
their labors in bringing this vision alive. It is indeed a
dream come true!! With two years looming ahead to
pay for this project, we know you will continue to be
faithful givers. Please pray for God’s guidance in its use
and its benefits to us and those around us.
GIFT CARD UPDATE: A big thanks to all who have
been faithful gift card supporters!! This is an amazing
accomplishment considering our average profit per card
is 4%. Even though this seems like a small amount, it
can make a BIG difference in what we can purchase for
our new building. If you’re not presently a card user,
please consider doing so. A gift card is the same as cash
or a check at the places where you shop. We’d love to
see a big increase in sales!
Is there any interest in other local merchants that offer
cards? Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Denny’s, Hardee’s,
Maurice, Michaels, Panera Bread, Papa John’s Pizza,
PetSmart, Pier 1 Imports.
SYMPATHIES: We wish to express our sympathy to
the families of: Joe Stutts (uncle of Michael Thompson)
who died December 13th; Mattie Sloop who died De-
cember 20th; Pat Schek (cousin of Peggy Whitonis)
who died December 31; Peggy Griffin (mother of Rich-
ard Griffin) who died January 2; James Helms (father of
Jeff Helms) who died January 6; Elouise Sale (mother
of Teresa Martin) who died January 12; Kenneth Hasch
(brother of Judy Cook) who died January 25th; Pattie Jo
Canupp who died January 26th.
MISSING! A blue warming bag with a 9x13 casserole
dish is missing from the kitchen. It was last seen at the
funeral meal for the Mattie Sloop family. If you have
any information, please call the church office.

The Youth Handbells & Elementary Choir will meet on
Sundays February 1, 8, 15 & 22. The Youth Handbells
meet at 4:30 pm and the Elementary Choir meet at 5:00
pm.
INTENTIONAL WORSHIP… Durwin Striplin will
be offering a time of study on many practical techniques
that will help us to become a unified community of
worshipers and skilled musicians that God can use how-
ever He sees fit. In many ways, this can be described as
intentional worship and evangelism. So, we want to in-
troduce our vision utilizing the following three pro-
grams.
1. We will introduce our vision through a twelve week
long Sunday School Class at 10:00 am starting Feb-
ruary 15th, in which we will work together to pro-
duce a vision, survey the different areas of ministry,
and gauge interest for the various areas of the Con-
temporary Praise Band. (Music, audio-visual, and
art as well as music writing and recording will be
emphasized because these are the ones I know and
use. Other areas exist such as dance or acting for
plays, dinner theatre, and skits!)
2. We will begin rehearsals for a contemporary instru-
ment band at 4:00—5:00 pm and vocal band at
5:00—6:00 pm on Sunday afternoons beginning
February 22nd.
3. We will begin scheduling intensive seminars in fo-
cused areas once we have a better handle on the in-
terest in these different areas.
We invite everyone who has an interest to come to the
Sunday School Class so we can begin to talk to each
other about what can be possible for the Contemporary
Praise Band. Brochures describing in more detail about
what we hope to cover in the class are available in the
foyer as well as a sign up sheet in which you can also
mark down your areas of interest. God Bless, Durwin
