Community Projects

Grants for internet support and training across Herefordshire

Purpose: This Go-online@Fastershire grant can help fund internet support, training sessions and other events or projects so that more local people can make the most of the benefits of going online. You could set-up a local computer club, arrange a one-off training session or demonstration for one of your group's regular meetings, or hold a series of training events on specific subjects such as emailing or paying bills online.

Who can apply: This fund can support local community groups, parish and town councils, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations in Herefordshire to prepare for faster broadband. The fund will help the community learn more about the benefits of going online and develop the skills to use the internet safely and effectively.

Amount available: There are limited funds but we can offer up to 80 per cent of the total eligible project costs, up to a maximum of £2,500. The minimum that can be applied for is £250. You will need to find at least 20 per cent of the costs yourself, although this can be 'in-kind' funding rather than actual money. 'In-kind' refers to volunteer time or goods and services donated to the project.

Deadline: This is a rolling scheme and applications will be considered within 6 weeks of receipt.

Funding for community projects in Herefordshire from HEINEKEN

Purpose: HEINEKEN are donating £30,000 to a wide range of big and small community projects in Hereford. As a responsible drinks company they won’t be able to any fund children’s charities. They do however recognise that positive diversionary activities for young people can play an important role in developing resilience to risky or anti-social behaviour. HEINEKEN believe it’s important to support these positive activities in their neighbourhoods and so could fund projects that can clearly demonstrate they’re addressing social problems related to alcohol misuse.

In order to distribute this funding HEINEKEN are using a website called ‘Neighbourly’. They are asking groups to add the details of their projects to the website and will make a decision whether to fund them based on this information. Here is a link to some local projects that are already on the website, those that have gained support say that they have been ‘backed’. https://www.neighbourly.com/projects/search/filter?q=hereford

Who can apply: Community groups across Herefordshire.

Deadline: There is no specified deadline for this funding.
