Fluor’s Safety Task Assignment (STA) process significantly impacts the success of our HSE culture and the reduction of incidents. The interactive process requires that management / supervisors and employees shall:

  • Define the task for each activity.

  • Identify known and potential HSE hazards associated with the task. (pinch points, slips/trips/falls,lifting)

  • Determine work practices to complete the task safely.

  • Address requirements for all personal protective equipment.

  • Establish that all crew / department employees understand the above information.

  • Execute the task as described or stop and repeat the process.

STA’s will be completed daily for each task. Post this STA in an obvious place during the length of the task. Each crewmember involved with the task will sign this STA.



    1. List job steps associated with the task.

    2. List hazards associated with the job steps.

    3. List safe work practices to eliminate the hazards.

4. At end of task, each crewmember will initial the Post STA

and note any problems on the Post STA section.


At the end of the task, submit this STA to Supervision. If deviation from safe work practice occurs, work must be stopped.
