Teaching Hospitals Work Experience:
2004- 2016: Consultant Haematologist at the Azadi Teaching Hospital (the Teaching Hospital of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, UoD). Azadi Teaching Hospital is a 400 bed Hospital and is the only referral Haematology centre in Duhok province (pop ~ 1.2 million).
2004-Aug 2014: Physician in charge of Department of Haematology at Azadi Teaching Hospital in Duhok, Iraq.
Mar 2006- Sept 2016: Consultant to the Inherited blood disorders care center at Duhok, Iraq.
2010-2012: Head of Department of Clinical Hematology/Oncology Azadi Teaching Hospital, Duhok, Iraq.
2001-2004: Consultant Haematologist, Medical City Teaching Hospital, Baghdad.
1995-2001: Acting Head of Department of Haematology, Teaching Laboratories, Medical City Teaching Hospital complex, Baghdad, Iraq. The Medical City Hospital is the largest Teaching Medical facility in the country with 1400 beds, and its Haematology department is the largest referral centre in the country with 100 beds, and it receives more than 3500 BM Aspirates/Biopsies annually. The medical complex includes the national Blood bank, and the national inherited bleeding disorders care centre, Referral Haemoglobinopathy diagnostic unit, and the main referral Pediatric Haematology/Oncology unit. I was one of three haematolgists running the service during most of the period.
1988-1995: Specialist Haematologist at the Department of Haematology, Medical City Teaching Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq.
1982- 1985: Senior House office at the Teaching Laboratories of Medical City Teaching Hospital (Practiced in Haematology, Blood Bank, Coagulation unit, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Histopathology), as well as adult haematology clinical wards.
Aug 1980- June 1982: Junior House Officer – rotation included Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Urology. Medical City Teaching Hospital Complex, Baghdad, Iraq.
