On Wednesday 22nd March we set off to Sandown Primary School for a schools cross country competition. Armed with the most runners competing from all the schools, our children were very excited to get going after training hard to prepare and looking great in our new running tops.

We decided to take 6 year 2 runners to give them the experience of racing. All of these had to race against older children from year 3. The children were outstanding with their running though and we had brilliant results from all of them.

Of our year 2 runners in the boys year 3 race all of them finished inside the top 13 which was amazing. We had Alistair finishing 4th, Ashton 7th & Sam 13th. The rest of our runners from year 3 also finished inside the top 13, with Luca 12th & Alfie finishing 5th. The standout performer from this group though was Max from year 3. He was at the front right from the start of the race and ran superbly all the way as he stretched out in front to win comfortably. c:\users\seanr\pictures\2017-03-23 pe\pe 114.jpg

Our year 2 & 3 girls were also very impressive with superb running from all of them. Sienna (year 2) was first home in 4th place closely followed by Arshaya in 5th. Catalya also from year 2 was 12th with our third year 2 runner Lilly finishing 23rd. Unfortunately Ruby was taken ill during the race and could not finish but we are extremely proud of all of you for your efforts.

Year 4 boys & girls continued running superbly well to finish the race with great results. Laurie was the first boy home in 4th place followed by Howie in 7th, Jett in 8th, Kieron 13th , Curtis 16th & Beau 24th. In the girls race which had some extremely talented runners in and made it a tough race to compete in, the girls showed great courage and perseverance to finish. Chloe finished 15th, Anastasia 19th & Artasia 21st.

Onto year 5 race and it was time for our brilliant boys to take centre stage in an extremely competitive race. Once again they were all amazing with Teejay competing for the first time finishing 16th. At the top end Sebastian again running brilliantly finishing 5th. However two podium finishes were to follow with Finlay finishing 3rd and not to be outdone by his younger brother Max in year 3 Blake took 1st place to make it a family double c:\users\mandyt\desktop\thumbnail_img_20170322_141027.jpg

Finlay 3rd place.

Blake 1st place.

Year 5 girls also showed great determination to finish. The girls were brilliant and got great results to merit their hard work. Lilly was first girl home in 10th followed by Ella in 17th, Hope 21st & Macie in 27th. Well done girls.

Year 6 were last to compete and after waiting in the cold for a long time they soon warmed themselves up and put in a brilliant display of running. All 6 of our boys finished in the top 17. Ollie was first home and nearly took the bronze medal but after a strong finish had to settle for 4th place. He was followed home by Jake 9th, Aiden 12th, Cayden 13th, Daniel 16th & Callum 17th In a great team display of running.

Onto the final race of the day and it was time for Elina & Grace to step up and show case their brilliant running. Neither girl disappointed either, Grace ran superbly throughout to finish 10th. However it was Elina who took the last gold medal of the day as she led from the start and finished comfortably out front to win her third cross country race this year.
