Race organiser, Sweatshop has announced that Cancer Research UK will be the official national charity partner for the 36th Robin Hood Marathon and Half Marathon that will take place on the 25th September 2016. The charity has been chosen to headline for a second year in a row due to the huge success from last year’s event.
Race Director, Judith Manson, comments: “It promises to be another great year and with Cancer Research UK on board again, the race will not only raise awareness of this disease, it will also provide the opportunity for runners to raise vital funds for families and friends who suffer from this illness.”
Poppy Spencer, Senior Sport Executive of Cancer Research UK comments “We are thrilled that Cancer Research UK will be the headline charity for the Robin Hood Marathon. We hope to exceed all fundraising expectations and have a massively positive impact on cancer patients nationwide. We fund research into more than 200 types of cancer from the most common – such as breast, bowel, lung and prostate cancers – to rare types of tumour and children’s cancers, we support groundbreaking science that benefits everyone and by running the Robin Hood Marathon, you will be taking steps to help us beat cancer sooner.”
