SFI bonus

You can get paid for completing some of the SFI (Swedish language studies) courses
The SFI bonus means that you can get paid for completing some of the Swedish for immigrants language courses. The aim is for those of you who have just arrived in Sweden to learn Swedish more quickly, so it will be easier for you to get a job.
Rules for paying out SFI bonus

These are the rules that apply to paying out the SFI bonus:

1. 
   You must have been registered in a municipality for the first time on 1 July 2010 or later.
   

2. 
   You have to be between the ages of 18 and 64 years old.
   

3. 
   You must have gained at least a Pass (Godkänt) grade on the course 1B, 2C, or 3D.
   

4. 
   You must have gained at least a Pass (Godkänt) grade at the latest twelve months after you stared the course.
   

5. 
   You must have gained at least a Pass (Godkänt) grade at the latest fifteen month after you were registered in municipality for the firs time.
   

6. 
   You must send in an application for the SFI bonus to the municipality where you live at the latest three months after you have successfully completed the course.
   

In order to qualify for the SFI bonus you may be a refugee or have been in need of protection.

You may also have received your residence permit because you have family here.
SFI bonus also applies to people who have a time-limited residence permit and to people who have been allowed to stay in Sweden because there is a problem with returning them to their countries.
This is all stated very clearly in the Aliens Act, Chapter 5, Sections 1, 2, 3, 3a, 4 or 6, Chapter 12 Section 18, Chapter 21 and Chapter 22.

These are the people who do not qualify for the Bonus:

People who have been studying here for some time.

People who have come here to work.

How to apply for a SFI bonus

You apply for the SFI bonus in a special form that the municipal office will give you. On this form you write your name, personal registration number, Where you live and how they can contact you, the course that you have passed and where you studied sfi. Do not fill in the second part of the form, your municipal office will fill in that part. Do not forget to sign your name.
