TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY: The Bible Study Class is every Tuesday, Class begins at 9:30 a.m.
EVENING OF SPIRITUAL REFLECTION FOR THE BIRTH OF CHRIST: There will be an “Evening of Spiritual Reflection For the Birth of Christ on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at St. Michael Church in Merrillville, Indiana. It will begin at 6:00 p.m. The Spiritual Guide for the evening will be the Most Rev. Donald Hying, Bishop of the Diocese of Gary. It will begin with the Celebration of the Ninth Hour for the Preparation of the Birth of Christ. Bishop Hying will give a spiritual talk after the Ninth Hour. Following the talk there will be time for Confessions or spiritual mediation or reading. At the end of the evening there will be meatless pizza (in the spirit of the Christmas Fast) and refreshments down in the Social Center.

Father Basil has notified the other parishes, and sent them flyers to post and bulletin announcements. Since Bishop Hying has graciously accepted our invitation to be with us, we would like to have a good crowd for this.

It seems like a bit early, but it is only 8 weeks away. For this reason there is a sign up sheet in the vestibule. If you are attending, please sign up by Sunday, November 27, 2016.
ROLLS FOR SALE: We have nut rolls, apricot rolls and some poppyseed rolls that were just recently made. They are $15.00 each. They will be sold whole or by slice at the Fish Fry/Pirohi and also after Liturgy on the weekend. If you would like some after Liturgy, please let Fr. Basil know.
ST. MICHAEL FEAST DAY CELEBRATION: The St. Michael Patronal Feast luncheon will take place on Sunday, November 6, 2016. The parish will provide the MEAT and SALAD. So you can bring some type of a side dish such as a vegetable, potato, or other dish, or dessert. There are forms on the table in the vestibule for you to fill out. Please turn your form in by Sunday, October 30, 2016.
NEW TIME FOR CHRISTMAS EVE VIGIL LITURGY: The Vigil Vesper Liturgy for Christmas Eve, December 24, 2016 will be celebrated at 7:00pm on Christmas Eve, instead of 5:00pm as in the past. PLEASE NOTE THIS CHANGE. The Christmas Compline and Singing of Carols will take place at 6:30pm. The Divine Liturgy on Christmas Day will begin as usual at 10:00am.
MIDWEST BYZANTINE ST. NICHOLAS/WEDDING JUBILARIAN CELEBRATION:

St. Michael Church will be hosting the Midwest Protopresbyterate St. Nicholas Celebration & Wedding Jubilarian Celebration will be on Sunday, December 4, 2016. will be the main celebrant of the 10:00am Liturgy at St. Michael that morning. The banquet will take place at Innsbrook Country Club, 6701 Taft Avenue (Rt 55) in Merrillville. There will be a social hour at 1:00pm and dinner will be served 2:00pm. The ticket prices are $25.00 for adults and there is no charge for children 18 and under. There will be a cash bar available.

There will be a presentation of certificates to the Wedding Jubilarian’s who have anniversaries of 25, 50, and multiples of 5 years after 50 (55th, 60th, etc). Those couples who have these anniversaries are guests of our parish. Please let Father Basil know if you have any of these anniversaries and if you will attend the banquet as soon as possible. Even if you do not attend the banquet, you can receive a anniversary certificate from

2016 – 2017 EPARCHIAL STEWARDSHIP APPEAL: We are still collecting the Stewardship Appeals for this year. You can either put it in an envelope and put it in the collection, or give it to Father Basil when you come to Liturgy on the weekend, or mail it to the rectory. Please make sure that the copies of the pledge for the Eparchy and the Parish are in your envelope when you turn it in. Thank you. We have collected a little more than half of our goal for the Appeal. The goal for the parish is $12,000.00.
BAKING OF ROLLS FOR CHRISTMAS: We will be making nut and poppyseed rolls for Christmas on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Social Hall. We will start around 7:00am, but as stated before, if you can come and help with the dishes or other tasks, all help is appreciated. The fillings will have to be made the day before, so help will be needed for that around 9:30am.
SOCIAL VIEWING OF BEARS –PACKERS GAME: We will have a Social Viewing of the Bears – Packers game on Sunday, December 18, 2016. Please keep this date in mind.
IMAGINARY FUNHOUSE FALL FESTIVAL – PORTAGE YMCA (IN THE GYM): There will be an Imaginary Funhouse Fall Fest at the Portage YMCA, in the Gym. There will be Bounce Houses, Music, Games, Prizes. There will also be Meet the Characters: Paw Puppies, Superheroes, Princesses and More! Also Face Painting by: Sissypoo Sweats & Treats Party Rentals. Adults: $10.00, Kids $6:00, and 3yrs & under $4.00.
EASTERN CATHOLICS MARCH FOR LIFE: The Eastern Catholics March for Life will take place from Thursday, January 26 – Saturday, January 28, 2017, in Washington, D.D. Although the trip will take from parishes in the Ohio Area, anyone is welcome to drive there and join in on the bus trip. The stops will be St. Michael Church in Oregon (Toledo), St. Mary Church in Marblehead, St. Nicholas in Lorain, and the Cathedral of St. John in Parma.

Everyone is encouraged to attend this event. By joining in with other Byzantine Catholics, your presence will give voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. For more information, or to reserve a spot on the bus, please contact Susan A. Gallagher @ 419-626-0375.



RUSYN, RUSSIAN, SLOVAK, UKRAINIAN – TAHE QUEST FOR IDENTITY AMONG CARPATHO –RUSYNS: The Carpatho-Rusyn Society – Lake Michigan Chapter presents a lecture on the above topic on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 1:00pm at Nativity BVM Byzantine Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 8530 West 131st St., Palos Park, IL 60464. The lecture will be given by John Righetti, President of the American Carpatho Rusyn Society.
