Thomas Harrison 25·10·1842
The vessel’s surgeon, Thomas Renwick, was an early member of the Nelson Provincial Council, a trustee of the Nelson School Society and of the first Presbyterian Church. He took up land in Marlborough and gave the land for the settlement named after him “Renwicktown”. Nelson Provincial Museum created an exhibition about Appo Hocton in 2009 and a published book on the history is available at the front counter.
