Violin-Virtuose David Garrett immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds
Berlin
Vivaldi’s Classics, AC/DC-Rockhymns, own compositions – David Garrett’s play on the violin
connects all musical epochs and touches all generations. His name is brought into line with
Bach and Beethoven by now and from June, 17th his wax figure next to both classicists is
waiting for visitors from all over the world – at Madame Tussauds, Unter den Linden
"I'm excited that after 30 years of seeing myself in the mirror in the morning, I finally get to
see myself in 3D”, says David Garrett. “If only the wax figure could play the violin, I could
retire! And the other great thing is that my parents and friends can now get the chance to
see me, even when I'm away on tour..."
The measuring of David Garrett in London took hours, as the portrayal should be exact:
from every single hair over teeth and the last point of toe every detail was originally
replicated. The musician of North American and German descent also gave his own jewelry
and worn dresses to the wax figure. No tailcoat, no bow-tie, but 100 percent David Garrett!
Even the pose was chosen by himself. The shoes – custom-made in New York – complete the
unique David Garrett-Look.
“We are very proud of the new wax figure in our culture section”, says Press Officer Nina-
Kristin Zerbe. “David Garrett is the first musician among the big names of culture, after Bach
and Beethoven. Like no other musician in the 21th century David connects modern pop
culture with classical music, that he brought close to young people again – this is what we
especially appreciate at Madame Tussauds Berlin.”
