VIZIMAX Smart Grid Automation Platform Certified by KEMA:
RightWON product now IEC 61850 Server + GOOSE compliant due to partnerships with COPA-DATA and COPALP
VIZIMAX, Inc., a global provider of Smart Grid automation solutions, announced today that its RightWON™ product line is now fully compliant with IEC 61850 Server + GOOSE specifications, and that these communication features have been certified by KEMA’s testing facilities for energy and utility industries.
The RightWON is a secure, modular, rugged automation RTU/PLC/gateway/communication platform with protocol conversion that connects circuit breakers, transformers, sensors, control and monitoring devices at either the substation level or external entry points on distribution and transmission networks. The RightWON is field-upgradeable and fully configurable using I/O, LAN, WAN and state-of-the-art telecom Smart Plug-ins, including GSM/GPRS/EDGE/3G/CDMA.
VIZIMAX with its strong partnerships with COPA-DATA and COPALP has succeeded in implementing a broad range of energy protocols on the RightWON to support the new needs of the industry for Smart Grid automation. “Our clients and partners required that the RightWON be compliant to KEMA, which has incredible expertise in IEC 61850. COPA-DATA’s and COPALP’s support in implementing IEC 61850 Server and GOOSE made it possible to greatly surpass KEMA’s certification” said Jean-Guy Lacombe President and CEO of VIZIMAX. These energy protocols include IEC 61850, DNP3, ModBus, IEC 60870, among others. Protocol conversion between ports is a standard feature.
The RightWON also leverages the COPALP’s outstanding soft PLC, straton® for Linux, and is bundled with the fully IEC 61131-3 compliant RightWON Configuration Suite for extensive automation needs, including Web HMI design. The built-in SCL editor with a bottom-up approach allows the RightWON platform to support all models of IEC 61850 Logical Nodes (LNs). As a result, the RightWON fits seamlessly into any energy application including wind farms, solar energy, hydro-electricity and IED functions.
Sized-to-fit RightWON configurations can be tailored by utilities and system integrators to build customized applications for:
-
Upgrade of legacy equipment, RTUs, PLCs or existing IEDs to the IEC 61850 communication standard,
-
Secure interconnection of Independent Private Producers (IPPs) to the utility’s distribution network,
-
Rugged, all in one gateway/RTU with I/O processing for distribution substations and pole-top applications,
-
Control and monitoring of high voltage circuit breakers and transformers,
-
Remote fault detection and automated reclose/disconnect operations within distribution networks,
-
Messaging, alarms, SMS, operational data broadcast and team management applications for power utilities, integrators and equipment manufacturers.
