ecently in the Republic of Uzbekistan has been paid a 
great attention to medical psychology, psychosomatic 
medicine and psychotherapy. Preparation of expe­
rienced medical psychologists and psycho­thera­
peutics’ for health care is one of the urgent problems. 
Thus it is very important to create modern manuals 
to prepare skilfull professionals. 
The 1st edition of this manual was published in 
2008 got a prize nomination “The best manual” In 
2009 re­edited and filled 2nd edition was published. 
So far have been significant changes in medicine 
and psychology. There are master courses and 
clinical residencies in higher educational institutions 
have been opening psychology faculties and set up 
preparation of experienced professionals for curative 
health facilities. This means that already in the bachelor 
courses we should teach thoroughly of students for 
medical psychology, psychosomatic medicine and 
psychotherapy. There is the reason that the leading 
specialists of medicine had said that “Each doctor 
must be a psychologist”. No doubt for this. Because 
in each disease the human psychology changes first. 
Therefore before examining the patient doctor needs 
to study his psychology.
Meanwhile, the doctor should know about not 
only patient’s disease history, but also psychological 
anamnesis, which in the future is able to inform to

make great opportunity to put diagnosis correctly and treat patient 
truly. 
At the end of ХХ century Famous German psychiatrist and 
psychologist Ernst Krechmer leaded the idea of “In spite of medical 
psychology is near to psychiatry, it is necessary to see it as an 
independent subject and works out teaching methodology”.
The scientist edited “Medical psychology” as abook in 1922 and at the 
same year in the all medical institutions of Europe began to teach as a 
special subject.
The prepared specialist began to treat patients in the different 
clinics similarly with psychiatrists and neurologists. Lately not 
only psychogenetic but also psychosomatic disorders correction 
had become as the main tasks of medical psychologists. Today 
the main treatment establishments for medical psychologists are 
psychosomatic medical centers and clinics. They practice and work 
in somatic clinics showing medical­psychological help to different 
patients. There are a lot of emergency medical centers with 
“emergency medical psychological help” system. This manual’s 3rd 
edition consists of 14 chapters and prepared according to modern 
requirements. Manual is enriched with last scientific research 
achievements.
This manual has been worked out the methodology according to 
an experience of Uzbekistan and emphasized patients psychology 
and medical psychological to help strategies in different diseases. 
In spite of students choice of medical field, they must know making 
conversation with different patients and collecting psychological 
anamnesis rules. The manual reflects in this text especially. There 
are special chapters dedicated to the basis of psychosomatic 
medicine.
You may be acknowledged with medical psychology’s great 
direc tion of neuropsychology in the special chapter, it emphasizes 
neuropsychological syndromes and diagnostics. The chapter of 
psychodiagnostics has been enlarged, the scheme of patient’s 
medical psychological status, added new tests in doctors’ practice 
and their interpretation. There are set questions to control students’ 
knowledge in the manual.
Real life examples, personal and other doctors’ observations and 
experiences help to develop clinical psychological students thinking

psychotherapeutics’ and other fields.
In the chapter of psychotherapy and psychopharmacy has 
been introduced cognitive­behavioral therapy, Geshtalt therapy, 
hypnotherapy, rational psychotherapy themes as well as information 
about new drugs and their usage.
