A fact is something that you can prove. Facts are true. This state- ment is an example of a fact: Halloween is an October holiday. An opinion is a personal belief that may or may not be true. Many people may share an opinion, but that does not make it a fact. This statement is an example of an opinion: Halloween is the best holiday.
