‘big book’ thesis
– a very long dissertation (usually limited to a maxi-
mum of 100,000 words) and the normal end product of a 
classical
model PhD
. It is constructed in an integrated, book form, with all the
chapters closely linked to each other, and an overall introduction and

– the major part of a paragraph, coming after the

piece of text, that which has not been identified as a heading or sub-
