745 prothioconazole 

 

Dear Colleague, 

 

This is to inform you that Bayer AG, Crop Science Division, is planning to organise a full scale collaborative trial on a 

method for prothioconazole. 

Principle:

 

The  content  of  prothioconazole  in  formulations  is  determined  by  reversed  phase  high  performance  liquid 

chromatography on a 50 x 4.6 mm (i.d.),  3.5 μm particle size C18 column (Agilent Zorbax Extend C18, or equivalent 

with the same selectivity), using gradient elution with mobile phase composed of water (acidified with phosphoric acid) 

/acetonitrile-THF-methanol mixture and UV detection at 254 nm. Quantitation is done by external standardization. 

Scope:  It  is  intended  to  analyse  five  samples  consisting  of  one  technical  material  (TC),  one  emulsifiable  concentrate 

(EC),  two  flowable  concentrates  for  seed  treatment  (FS)  and  one  suspension  concentrate  (SC).  Samples  and 

prothioconazole analytical standard will be supplied. 

Time schedule: The collaborative trial is intended to be carried out between November 2017- March 2018. Those who 

wish to participate should contact the organiser by 31 October 2017. The results should be reported by the end of March 

2018.
